Puzzle Description:

did you think it was going to be hard?

#1: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Mar 14, 2021 [HINT]

I had to use a lot of letter deduction, which doesn't really qualify as logic. Did the checker say whether it was solvable by logic alone?

Really good puzzle. Enjoyed the solve!! Thanks!!

not solvable with things like LL and EL - it required Kristen's Letter Logic
#4: Gator (gator) on Mar 15, 2021 [HINT]
Agreed. Even though this has a unique solution, I do not see how we can use logic to solve it.
#5: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Mar 19, 2021 [HINT]
i got stuck for a bit and as soon as i found this first move i started writing down the moves. i'm fairly certain i just did line logic before that one:

- IEL: if the 3 clue in R8 is in C9-11, then the blots will include a black in C7, the two dots it puts in C7R12 and C9(or 11)R12 gives nowhere for the 3 in R12 to go. So, the 3 is in C13-15R8.

- EL: if the black in C5-6R12 are the two clue, then the results in that row put dots in (among others) C1 and C9 in R9 which doesn't leave enough room for seven (blotted) clues, so C7R12 is black.

- whether C12R12 or C13R12 is black, C13R11 will be black

Found to be solvable with deep lookahead by gator.
#7: Gator (gator) on Mar 23, 2021 [HINT]
That works David. Marking as Deep as it takes 3 steps ahead for parts of it.
#8: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Mar 23, 2021
sounds good to me!

Tough puzzle!

David's hints worked for me, although in his last line, there is a typo. It should read:

- whether C17R12 or C18R12 is black, C18R11 will be black
