That's great! I'm lookin' forward to "NORMAL"
#3: Susan Nagy (susannagy54) on Feb 6, 2021
As are we all Dan! I am beginning to hear more stories about people who have been waiting and waiting and then BOOM -- they have got their vaccines. So hang in there -- its coming!!

This puzzle is marked as solveable by line and color logic, but I had to use lookahead to solve it. What do other people think about whether it can be solved with line and color logic?
#10: Susan Nagy (susannagy54) on Feb 6, 2021
Thank you black cat!
Thanks Valerie!! I was thinking just an "L" shape for the arm, and didn't think much about muscles for shoulders and elbows, etc. Then I concentrated on the needle and the vaccine, and when I had something I thought looked half-way decent, I "checked" and saw that it was solveable by line and color logic, so I decided to leave well enough alone, and go with it.
#11: Jota (jota) on Feb 8, 2021
Indeed I needed lookahead to place the 2 black in column 9, after that it was a breeze.
#12: Michael Eddy (meddy) on Feb 8, 2021 [HINT]
I think I used a small bit of lookahead when I was working on the blue 3 in c26 but that's it.
#13: Valerie Mates (valerie) on Feb 8, 2021 [HINT]
Ok, I'm going to mark it as needing lookahead.
#14: Web Paint-By-Number Robot (webpbn) on Feb 8, 2021
Found to be solvable with moderate lookahead by valerie.
#15: Susan Nagy (susannagy54) on Feb 8, 2021
Thanks for the feedback Jota and Michael and Valerie! I "solved" it myself yesterday, and it got a bit tedious at times, even though I knew the final outcome but had to pretend I didn't. In the future I think I will try solving before publishing.
#16: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Feb 8, 2021 [HINT]
laughed so hard at your first comment valerie!

ok, i solved again because i didn't think i had done anything but color and line logic. not going to get on my soapbox about the fact that some color logic is multi-line, but anyway. here's the trickiest color logic move:

- the black 4 in C25 can't start in R11 because it's not blue, so C25R15 is black

everything else mostly straight-forward line and color :)
#17: Dave Kendall (dkthedj8) on Feb 9, 2021 [HINT]
It all fell into place for me when I realized C24 rows 8&9 had to black because C25-27 could only be blue. After that, smooth sailing. I did not use lookahead.

David: I was wondering if anybody had read it! Or had the same misinterpretation that I did!

Would you say that that switches it to color logic and not lookahead?
#22: Valerie Mates (valerie) on Feb 11, 2021
David (dbouldin), I added you to the list of people who can officially set the solvability and uniqueness of a puzzle.
#23: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Feb 11, 2021 [HINT]
Thanks Valerie!
...and yes, I think that meets Jan's definition of color logic. color logic can look at more than row at a time as long as it is just checking for the clue color, not the clue number. Sometimes we used color as a part of an edge logic move, but that's lookahead. color logic can be VERY difficult to find, but once you find it, it still might not be lookahead :)
#24: Web Paint-By-Number Robot (webpbn) on Feb 11, 2021
Found to be solvable by line and color logic alone by valerie.
#25: Valerie Mates (valerie) on Feb 11, 2021
Ok, I set it back to color-and-line logic (as you can see).
#26: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Feb 11, 2021 [HINT]
Thanks Valerie!

how i understand it: color logic can look at more than row at a time as long as it is just checking for the clue color, not the clue number. Sometimes we used color as a part of an edge logic move, but that's lookahead. color logic can be VERY difficult to find, but once you find it, it still might not be lookahead :)

Thanks everyone for the comments. Yes, color logic can be hard!
I hope the CDC realizes soon that there are a lot of children around!!
My sister and I are both in our 60's, my mom is in her90's, so we all meet that age limit. Now we are waiting for my nephew's and niece's turns -- who are in their 30's.
#28: Gator (gator) on Mar 1, 2021 [HINT]
Agreed that this is line/color solvable.

Nice puzzle!
#29: JoDeen Mozena (ozymoe) on Mar 2, 2021
I'm late to the party, but you really had me laughing at #8 too, Valerie!...reeeeeally wondered where Susan was going with this one! I enjoyed this puzzle, had to chew on it...yummy!

Btw...I think I'm getting my first dose tomorrow. Crossing fingers.
#30: Susan Nagy (susannagy54) on Mar 5, 2021
Thank you Gator and JoDeen!!! (I too was wondering what Valerie thought it might be!!)
