Puzzle Description:

Response to Brian's challenge in #34854, titled, "I was today years old". We are to share something that we learned recently that has the sense of "I should have known this already." Recent is relative. About two years ago-ish, I found out that "What's Love Got to Do with It" was sung by Tina Turner, not Michael Jackson. Until then, I had gone my whole life hearing the song on the radio and believing it was a dude singing it. She kinda sounds like the King of Pop to me.

I'll forgive you, since you probably never saw the video. :)

I have the same problem, because I *love* to look things up. I remember one I found out recently, that I need to figure out how to put into a puzzle. :)

@2: Nope, only ever heard it on the radio. I went by the voice my ears thought they were hearing, and I was a lot more familiar with Michael as an artist. I had never actually heard of Tina Turner's very name until I was in my twenties, well after this song was taken off the frequently played list.

By the way, does it look like her? I've heard people comment on other face puzzles that they captured the likeness in pixels very well, but I've never scrunched a face into a 40x45 before. I guess I kind of just want to hear it from someone who knows what they're doing.

@3: Heh, so I'm not the only person on this site who doesn't look things up a lot. (I do sometimes.) I have always picked up on us being kindred spirits, especially with our sense of humor. We have pretty similar personalities. ^-^ I always love talking to you.

She does resemble Tina.
#6: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Feb 2, 2021
I think she looks quite a bit like Tina :) And ditto, though I'm probably closer to your mom's age (I'll be 46 this month).
#7: Koreen (mom24plus) on Feb 2, 2021
I'm always looking things up. Back before the Internet, I kept a dictionary by my bed so I could look up words I came across while reading. Now I frequently look things up even if it's just passing thoughts.

Thanks for the validation, Jota. ^-^

Kristen, you're actually in the middle. I'm 30 and my mom is 65.

Hi, Koreen. It's definitely good to like looking things up. I never developed a knack for it because I guess if I didn't already know, I was willing to keep on not knowing unless it piqued my interest enough.

Koreen, ditto! As a child, we had a huge dictionary on a podium, right in the foyer. Now, I keep my phone next to whichever book I'm reading, so I can look up pronunciations, definitions, images, or locations. :)

AG, this year I turn 46 and my mom turns 75. She was born in '46, and I was born in '75. If not for the Covid, I had wanted to do a mother-daughter cruise, or something. ^_^

That's cool. Maybe a belated cruise as soon as it's acceptably safe.

I rarely attempt portraits. I think you did a great job with Tina.
#12: Aurelian Ginkgo (AurelianGinkgo) on Feb 2, 2021
Thank you. ^-^

Found to be solvable with moderate lookahead by gator.
#14: Gator (gator) on Feb 2, 2021
I think portraits are hard to do. This is done really well.
#15: Aurelian Ginkgo (AurelianGinkgo) on Feb 2, 2021
Yay! Thanks, gator.

I enjoyed doing this one, Aurelian. I'm also a big looker-upper, but I'm not a big music person. I enjoy it as entertainment, but otherwise I find it distracting. I know that probably makes me very strange lol.
#17: Aurelian Ginkgo (AurelianGinkgo) on Feb 3, 2021
I'm glad you like it. ^-^
I don't think there's anything strange about your opinion of music. It's perhaps a less common viewpoint, but I doubt you're alone.

Thank *you*.

There's a certain irony in here - You only now learned that it was sung by a victim of serial terrible physical abuse, when all along you thought it was sung by a serial child sexual predator.
