Aw, you folks are sweet! Today *is* a good palindrome: 1-2-3-2-1.
But why is it Founders Day? I missed something! :-S

I found it: Puzzle 30023 says that "W" is the 23rd letter of the alphabet, and that's why today is Founders' Day. "Jan W." :)

You know a nerd came up with the reason behind the Jan W - 23 thing because they got numbers involved and you've got to think to get it. And I'm down with that.

I told my kids about "Jan W," and they too were amused. :)
And all of us like that someone else remembers him too.

Regrettably, I found the site after his passing.

I love this!...every aspect of it. Big thank you, Valerie for continuing to keep Jan's site up and running. I know it's work. Btw who thought Founder's Day up anyway...such a great idea!

Happy founder's day everyone. I think Jan might have appreciated the old computer font. I miss not having him here. In addition to his amazing programming, his wise influence helped set the tone for this site. Valerie, I agree. You are doing a great job.

JoDeen and Brian - Thanks for the kind words! I think it was Joe (infrapinklizzard) who thought up Founder's Day. He first mentions it in puzzle #29338, from 2017. Though there is an earlier suggestion that there should be a Founder's Day, by Sarah Andrews (sarah) in 2010, in Puzzle #11318. You were there, Brian, and suggested that it should be sometime in JANuary.

Though in puzzle #29338, Joe says "We" chose that date, so it sounds like maybe he talked with someone else in choosing it.

Well, I went to "Forum" and typed "Founder" into the search box. :)

I just mean you're citing this puzzle and that puzzle and mentioning evidence from the comments of another puzzle... it's deeper research than the average person would do.

I didn't even know him, but I'm sitting here crying. Thanks for a site that I visit almost daily.
