What do you think it is? Answer will come in a day or two. Feel free to post your guesses.

#1: Nancy Snyder (naneki) on Sep 8, 2008 [SPOILER]

this could be just about anything
#2: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Sep 8, 2008
I promise you will see it once you know the answer. Maybe someone will get it sooner. Hint will come later today.
#3: heather beery (puddle) on Sep 8, 2008
speaker?
#4: Jane Doe (telly) on Sep 8, 2008
a shoe print?
#5: Marie-Louise Ambrey (marz) on Sep 8, 2008
A shark, not. Ah, my brain is spinning again, love it!
#6: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Sep 8, 2008 [SPOILER]
This one is very close up (of a smallish object to begin with)
#7: Merili (merilinnuke) on Sep 9, 2008
Somehow I see a stapler
#8: Ga Hendrick (GaHendrick) on Sep 9, 2008
Part of a paper clip?
#9: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Sep 9, 2008 [SPOILER]
It is part of a white wall socket (black areas are the holes). I got this one from the front cover of "Games" magazine (an issue from a couple of months ago).
#10: Jane Doe (telly) on Sep 9, 2008
I see it now.
#11: Jan Wolter (jan) on Sep 10, 2008 [SPOILER]
I don't. My wall sockets have two slots and a round hole. Neither of these holes looks like a slot. Of course, other countries have entirely different sockets.
#12: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Sep 10, 2008
I just copied it from Games magazine. I don't know what country they took it from.
#13: m2 (mercymercy) on Sep 11, 2008 [SPOILER]
I thought the bottom black spot was a screw.
#14: Jan Wolter (jan) on Sep 11, 2008 [SPOILER]
I can see it that way - part of the screw and part of the top socket. But it could have been anything.
#15: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Sep 11, 2008 [SPOILER]
Actually, Jan this is what it is. It is the white COVER of the wall socket. So the large hole is actually where the socket can push through, and the small hole is the screw hole. So you are right, it is not the socket itself.
#16: Diana W (aeris) on Apr 5, 2010 [SPOILER]
I saw part of a white pot with a lid on it. This one could really have been anything.
#17: Alicia Snyder (prinny) on Jun 8, 2010
That's cool. I would have never guessed that's what it was. Good job.
#18: Kylie :) (misty) on Jul 24, 2010 [SPOILER]
I saw part of an exclamation mark. But they're all everyday objects aren't they, so I didn't really think it would be that. Puzzle still looking good two years later :D
#19: Aurelian Ginkgo (AurelianGinkgo) on Jul 5, 2018
This is what I saw: Imagine you are inside of a tunnel. You look up at the inside corner of the exit. The roundish black part at the bottom is the exit. The black area is the darkness of the ceiling. Don't ask me how the walls are lit up. I can't see a light source; this view gives me tunnel vision.
#20: Valerie Mates (valerie) on Jan 9, 2020
I'm with Kylie.
