Glad you're safe, even tho' you had only flashlights.#2: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Oct 30, 2020
I was following Zeta and was wondering if you were affected, Sorry to hear about the power loss. Sadly they are tracking two more storms in the Atlantic. Hope they fizzle out.#3: Jota (jota) on Oct 30, 2020
Sorry Kristen!#4: besmirched tea (Besmirched Tea) on Oct 31, 2020
Reminds me of those cool sanane images.#5: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Oct 31, 2020
Simple, but really gets the point across.
We were lucky--no damage to the house, and only lots and lots of fallen pine branches. Our mulberry tree is now naked on top, but the leaves must've blown into a neighbor's yard.#6: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Oct 31, 2020
We had several pounds of thawed sausage and a thawed chicken in the freezer, so this morning I started a pot of gumbo. When I get home after 5, I'll de-bone the chicken, and then we can cook some rice and eat!
I'm glad you are okay and, silver lining, there's gumbo#7: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Nov 1, 2020
The gumbo came out really well, too. I forgot to sprinkle any file' powder (dried sassafras leaves) over the top, so I'm sprinkling some over the individual containers of leftovers. :)#8: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Nov 3, 2020
oh man! as much as i love okra, i tend to prefer gumbo thickened with file instead. now i'm craving cajun. i think i'm going to pull some andouille out of the fridge and shrimp from the freezer and make some jambalaya for lunch.#9: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Nov 5, 2020
I've always done the chicken & sausage gumbo, because I'm not a fan of the sea beasties.#10: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Nov 5, 2020
i love sea beasties of every flavor!#11: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Nov 5, 2020
I good with everything except okra. If it has okra, I'm picking it out.#12: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Nov 6, 2020
pick them out...then bread them and fry them and dip them in white gravy...THEN you're set!#13: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Nov 6, 2020
Or...pick them out, dredge them in egg wash, corn meal, deep fry them, smother them in gravy and then throw them away because they are still too slimy to be edible. Okra has the consistency of something that is snot pudding.#14: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Nov 6, 2020
Oh don't even get me started on snot pudding!! yum!!!!#15: BlackCat (BlackCat) on Nov 7, 2020
Delightful. Glad you are ok.
