It's a horse of a different color.

I assumed that was a cow-print saddle blanket. :)

Ha! It's been a long time since I sat in one of those. Fun puzzle, Brian.

Same, though I did take my first Spin class on Thursday, and I've been a bit saddle sore since.

The first and last time I ever rode horseback I fell off. But it wasn't because I was careless. It was because the saddle wasn't strapped on tight enough and it just rotated to the horse's side. We were only half way through the trail and I said I would just walk the rest of the way. They wouldn't let me, but I didn't trust them to saddle the horse right. I did not want to get back on.

I guess I would do it again, but not until making sure the part I can't do anything about is done right.

The first time I ever rode a horse was an incredibly eerie jolt. I'm the only kid I know who never rode a pony. I was in my early twenties when I was at a resort that had riding lessons, and it would be the very first time in my life I ever sat in a saddle. I swung my leg over, and the INSTANT by butt hit the saddle I felt like I had been doing it for years. I casually picked up the reins (perfectly properly, as it turned out) and I nudged the horse into a walk without a thought. It took nearly a minute or so before I realized anything unusual, and was then seized with the strongest deja vu I've ever felt. Proof of reincarnation? I don't think so, but I'll never be able to explain what happened that day.
As it turns out, I've only ridden once or twice since then, and only on walking bridle paths.
