On a side note, I think it's worth mentioning that the active ingredient in Luden's "cough drops" is pectin. So, you might as well suck on any hard candy, as use Luden's to soothe your throat.

Chocolate may be a better cough suppressant than cough syrup, according to a recent study. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that a group of researchers at the University of Hull in Yorkshire examined 163 patients and concluded that cocoa is best for soothing a sore throat.Jan 19, 2019
