Trying to get a delivery time is turning us into night owls. I had to wait 5 days for my last delivery from Safeway and only got about half of what I ordered. You can no longer change your order once you finalize it so you are stuck waiting until the day of delivery to see what you will get. Grocery stores are making a fortune. High priced items that were slow sellers are often the only ones left to buy. So if it's something you really need you bite the bullet and add it to your list. I'm paying almost double for groceries.#2: Susan Eberhardt (susaneber) on Apr 22, 2020
I haven't tried a delivery service but have heard complaints similar to Norma's.#3: Philip (Philip) on Apr 22, 2020 [HINT]
I stocked up in February and have gone out only twice since early March. I went to a Rite-aid that has a small grocery section for fresh milk and a few things I ran out of. (Gotta have my peanut butter.) There were only two other customers and one clerk there when I went, so I felt safe in my mask and gloves after I wiped down the cart with alcohol.

I haven't used any delivery service for food here on the east coast, but my sister who lives on the west coast is using one. She said there is a week wait for groceries after you put in your order. I just put on a mask, go to the store and shop like it's a fresh market. Whatever they have is what we eat that week.#6: Web Paint-By-Number Robot (webpbn) on Apr 23, 2020

I have had the same experience as Norma, until this past week. I think InstaCart finally hired more shoppers, so I can now get same day delivery. But I still don't get many of the items I order, and there are often no suitable subsitutes. I've become more creative at making do with what I get, and I'm just so grateful to have a full pantry and the ability to pay for groceries.#8: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Apr 25, 2020
I just got my receipt from Safeway for my order to be delivered this afternoon. Margarine, flour, salt, and dish soap were all out of stock. Ridiculous. I guess the hoarders are just going to keep on hoarding.#9: Carol Brand (KarylAnn) on Apr 25, 2020
I have been having luck with InstaCart and for the most part the shoppers have made good choices for substitutions. One snafu though was with the 1 bulb of garlic I ordered. I instead received 1 pound of garlic! 11 bulbs! I saw on FB a similar situation where the woman ordered 1 pound of Green Beans and received 1 Green Bean!#10: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Apr 25, 2020
At Safeway it used to be you ordered tomatoes on the vine by the numbers and not pounds. They they changed it to lbs. So I ordered 1 lb of tomatoes with a comment to make sure is was on pound and not just one tomato. I got one tomato and it had mold on it.#11: Koreen (mom24plus) on Apr 26, 2020
Today I was supposed to get an order between 1 and 3 pm. It is now 6 pm. I spoke to someone at 5:30. She was supposed to get back to me or have the driver call me. Nothing.
Thankfully, our son and daughter both do the shopping for us. I've been avoiding the stores as much as possible because I'm out and about too much already procuring food for our Community Pantry AND I help take care of my 98-year-old mother.
So sorry, to hear about your troubles. I've heard of these issues around here, as well.
And Oregon Food Bank is having trouble sourcing food, but still working hard looking for alternatives.
