A plumber once told me that he was told as a kid that if you grabbed a skunk by the tail it wouldn't spray. So one day he saw a skunk by the side of the road and crept up on it really slowly in the ditch. The skunk didn't care because that's how skunks do.

He got up right behind it and could reach the tail, and then he froze. The skunk continued to browse a little, then looked him straight in the eye.

And then after about half an hour it calmly waddled off. The plumber said he finally let out his breath. That half-hour was only a minute or so, but it sure felt a lot longer.

My son had a skunk for a while. It, of course, had been de-flowered. He was really cute and a lot of fun. Very playful.

I do not think that word means what you think it means

When my uncle was a little boy, he tried to play with the "pretty kitty." It ended with bathing in tomato juice in the backyard and the burning of his clothing.

What about common sense? Who needs a law for that? LOL

@#3. Must be a local slang where the phrase was borrowed from another meaning to apply to removing the source of the wonderful "flowery" smell emanating from a skunk.

I imagine it's a pun based on the skunk in "Bambi" whose name was Flower.
