Oh wow, that really popped! I solved the whole thing with *no* idea what it was, then read the title, and *boom!* -- it was really clear exactly what it was. Very cool!

I had my suspicions, from the title. :)

Hey Valerie, I had a thought (and no to all of you thinking it must be lonely). I was looking at some of my hundreds of puzzles published, lost, and then amazing resurrected. Those, and the puzzles of many others, have one or two comments each since they have yet to be rediscovered. I'm sure some will again see the light of day on the home page but wouldn't it be great to feature these resurrected puzzles on the home page? I'm no programmer so I have no idea how difficult this would be. But if it could be done, I'm sure solvers would love to get reacquainted with all these forgotten gems.

I like your idea, Brian. That would be fun.

Happy to all!

I found and recreated all of mine. But then, I probably has exponentially fewer puzzles to restore. :)

Responding to Brian's comment (#8) -- featuring puzzles on the home page should be easy. Are you saying that puzzles resurrected from the crash are never being shown there, or that they are shown but that it would be nice to give them extra priority because of their having been lost? Either should be do-able.

(Also, I should note that it's very hit-or-miss whether I ever see a particular comment on a puzzle -- I very nearly missed this one, and I probably *have* missed a ton of other comments that I should have seen. If you want me to see something, it's better to put it in the group's Facebook group -- at facebook.com/groups/webpbn -- or e-mail me.)

I'm not sure I've noticed if resurrected puzzles show up on the Featured Puzzle list. I think it might be nice to have a list of say 20 old puzzles and would have a "new" old puzzle added each day and the last in get pushed off the back end. That would be similar to the new puzzle page and give solvers time to work them.

Most of the comments (and I assume solves) on a new puzzle happen in the first few days when it is high in the new puzzle list. When you solve and comment on a puzzle, you can then see later comments and enjoy and be a part of the conversation. Many have said that this is their favorite part of this community.

I just think people would like to see and comment on these puzzles again. I know that I would. If it were up to me, I would just populate the list numerically so they appear in their original order. That way, we preserve the feeling of any series puzzles and we would eventually get through the whole list.

I don't this it tells you that it's a resurrected puzzle until you load it. I really like your idea and the way it would work.
