Nicely done, Aldege! Having recently turned 67, I realize you can get injured getting off the couch. So I feel your pain.

The girls are keeping you young! (Or, at least, thinking you're young)

Thank you everyone. There were 2 people there older than me and they played really well. They new better then to dive for the ball.lol. It's just a fun get together thing David,so we change positions after every change of serve. I was serving pretty good though. Actually Kristen, I think they are keeping me young.

Fun puzzle, Aldege. I sure enjoy it when you share your experiences with us. Staying active at "our age" will help us stay healthier longer. Teach the girls to give you a good shoulder massage though. (✬‿✬)

What a terrific story to go with an excellent small puzzle. As someone who is older than you are, I must admit I no longer dive for balls. My knees are simply too problematic.
Makes me feel spry in spirit.

Thank you again everyone. Well other than a little stiffness and minor pain in my joints and my serving hand, today I feel no worse for wear. Last year around this time, I played some ball hockey at this some Church gym. That time I ended up rupturing 2 discs in my back. The pain from the fluid rubbing on my sciatic nerve was unbearable. I was popping Tylenol like Smarties. Before I got the results from the x-rays and the follow up visit to my doctor, I went to a Church event and was privy to a hands on healing from a minister there. I did not feel any healing going on. However, by the time I got home from that event, I did notice enough relief that I did not feel the need for Tylenol that night. The next morning same thing, no need for Tylenol. The pain was still there but not that bad. By the next day, I was free of pain. When my doctor called for the follow up from my x-rays she told me that I ruptured 2 discs. I told her that was interesting because I was now pain free. She said that didn't make sense. I told her about going to the healing event and getting hands on from the minister or pastor. I expected her to balk at that, but she gave me the thumbs up and said " Praise the Lord". The pain never returned.

Love love love your stories. I'm a little over 67 so I relate. I have to admit some of your puzzles lately have been too hard for me. I liked this one a lot. How do you say your first name? Which syllable is accented? Just curious.
#14: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Oct 3, 2019
al DEZHE is a pretty close approximation. :)

With French words, the accent usually goes on the final syllable.
#15: Aldege Cholette (rogue) on Oct 3, 2019
Al dage or the way Kristen has it is close. The accent is on the first e, not the last. It is an accent grave\ over the e.

Thanks. Now I know :)

I feel your pain, and am glad it's gone. I turned 68 in 2019 and am still an avid tennis player (and coach), and have undergone two joint replacements so that I can continue. I played volleyball until the first major knee surgery in 2005 (I was 54 at the time) and I lost my jump. As to positions, I was a setter and strong-side hitter. This was before they invented the libero position. Keep staying young!!
#18: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Feb 19, 2023
I'm naturally an Opposite Hitter but played Setter in a pinch. So we sound a lot alike Gary :) Haven't played in a while though :/
