Captain Gerhard Eisenmann, great grandfather of Bill Eisenmann. He was the first man to circumnavigate Meighan Island. He is also known for his services during the Franco-Prussian War. He received a iron cross for providing food and supplies to German corvette SMS Hertha, which was blockaded by the French corvette Dupleix in Nagasaki.

Ok, this is kind of stunning, as my paternal heritage traces solidly to Bavaria and Austria, and I have a second cousin named Gerard Eisenmann, a former prosecutor in Connecticut (where I am from and remain).
