The description is a clue to the subject using cryptic crossword clue rules.#2: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jul 24, 2019 [SPOILER]
Every cryptic clue is made up of two parts; a definition, and a literal description of the answer using wordplay. They can be in either order (though not intertwined) and there is no separation between them.
Here is a page describing some of the techniques:

BODEGOS - a record label (disc ID)#3: Joanne Firla (JoFirla) on Jul 24, 2019
Knotted under over = Bowed
Large heads = Egos
Just kidding. I made that up. I have no idea.
LOL!! Great guess fasstar! Love your answer. Hahaha.#4: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Jul 24, 2019 [SPOILER]
Hmm...Upbraid has 7 letters, and a braid is sort of knotted under, and Up! featured a house lifted by over-large head-shaped balloons, and it ends in "ID"....#5: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Jul 24, 2019
You're getting a bit tenuous there, Kristen. ;-)#6: Bruce Yanoshek (yanogator) on Jul 25, 2019
I'm ready for a hint.#7: Velma Warren (Shiro) on Jul 25, 2019
Looks like a quilt block.#8: Ron Jacobson (shmily999) on Jul 26, 2019 [SPOILER]
Pearled.....a crochet term I've heard my wife use, but I am not sure what it means. I think it is done so that the stitch is inverted, or that the knot is under?#9: Bill Eisenmann (Bullet) on Jul 26, 2019
Ron I think that's "purl" ...#10: Bill Eisenmann (Bullet) on Jul 26, 2019 [SPOILER]

Here's another clue#14: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Sep 13, 2020 [SPOILER]
An example of the answer is in this picture:

Well, the part of the photo that looks like the puzzle is the "roundel"...which is a disc-shaped method of ID'ing the country of origin for military aircraft...AND it is 7 letters long.#15: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Sep 13, 2020 [SPOILER]
Oh! Joe said anagram! knotted is a reference to it being an anagram? "under" + O.L. = "roundel"...and "heads" = ... = .... = what, of ours, joe enjoys messing with!
Close enough, David - you'd have finished the crossword, anyway.
The clue breaks down like this:
ID disc (definition)
=
knotted (an anagram of:)
under (under)
over-large heads (+ o & l)
So, anagram of underol = roundel
