St George, ofc....Tolkien took a lot from a lot of sources. But he put his own spin on it. Man, I wish I could find the book I originally read, but a lot of stuff got sloshed around after Dad died. I'm betting lil bro Jeff has it. Tolkien was serious when he had to be, and took inspiration from the Edda and a whole lot more. He was a historian in his own right. But he was also a sarcastic bastard. His early stuff is lost on us, but he threw names in there to belittle certain ppl. The guy was very much political. And analytical. When he went for the big deal legacy novels that you know him for, he played it cool. Not so before that. He was a sh**-disturber. Anyhoo, I'd love to see how the movie ppl proceed. The Simmarillion could be epic!#10: Web Paint-By-Number Robot (webpbn) on Dec 21, 2022
