The first time I saw the WOT, I thought it was a creatively spelled WHAT? Like, WOT the heck is this? Guess not. Though the meaning's about the same!

Solving puzzles isn't a waste of time, all the time. It keeps your mind active and provides a fun challenge. Now, if you were supposed to be doing other important stuff and keep procrastinating to do these puzzles for hours on end, then yes, it's a waste of time.
That's my two sense worth. :)
