unfortunately, this does not solve. Even by taking the obvious guess with where the 9 in r12 starts, you'll get stuck again. it's plenty easy to "see" what you're going for and what goes where, but it isn't logically solvable.

Heya Kurt, I apologise I should've checked for that beforehand! My bad. I'll try make a similar themed solveable one to replace this as it seems unfair to puzzlers...

You can also just add a pixel or two, in a strategic location. Just click the "Edit" button, then click the bar that says "check to see if the puzzle is logically solvable" (or words to that effect), and it'll toggle between the problem areas, so you can see where you need to adjust pixels. Save and check the solve again, as necessary.

One of the most frustrating parts of creating a puzzle that *looks* just right, is having to decide how much of your artistic vision to sacrifice, in order to get a good solve.

After LL
el 13 r35 places it.
LL
el 4 r32 = c6-8, c17 w
el 9 r12 = c17-19, c30 white
three-way logic 9 r12: No matter where it goes the second 4 in r13 will be in either [c16-19] or [c20-23]. So the rest of that row must be white (c10-15, c24-30)
el 9 c30 = r14-16, r30-32 w
LL
Internal el 15 c23 : if it were to go all the way up, there would be no way to arrange the crossing clues in r12-15 to fit without conflict. (There would always be a conflict in either c22 or c24.) Therefore c23r12 must be white.
LL
el 9 c30 = r17 w
el 4 r17 = c26-29 w (or it would leave no room for the 4 in r18)

I got a bit farther than joe but not much. in the 2 7 2 row, the 7 has to be a bit further right because both the 2's in the row below it cant be on the right side or else it creates conflicts, and if the 7 were all the way left they'd have to be. That's already pretty deep lookahead, almost to where I'd call it trial and error but not quite. You can get a little out of those couple blots from the 7.
Also you can get a little bit more out of that 5 in the 7th to last row. But after that I'm not sure.
