Labyrinths have been considered for many purposes throughout history though mostly for meditative needs since the use of the mind isn't needed to complete them. Though the difference between a maze and labyrinth has been established, the story of the Minotaur at Knossos that made the term labyrinth popular was actually clearly a maze considering that Daedalus needed to use a thread to find his way out after he built it.
