I could never remember the rhyme either and I was overjoyed when someone showed me this many years ago. And the great thing about it is that you can do this on the sly without anyone being the wiser.

I like your colorful illustration.

The rhyme didn't stick with me, either. I couldn't see a pattern to it.

My mom also taught me how to multiple (6,7,8) by (6,7,8) on my fingers. I suspect it is just the multiply by nines, expanded.

Growing up I learned the rhyme. As an adult, Jan taught me this way of doing it. :) It worked for him!

I'm so old fashion and honestly coming from a large poor family where most of my siblings and my mom and dad were not able to either stay in school very long or even go to school. I was never introduced to these little helpful ways until I was an adult. However I remember my Dad teaching me how to tie a Windsor knot and it became automatic to me and I have never forgotten how.

"Thirty days has September, all the rest I can't remember."

I learned this with my fingers extended. Starting with the left pinky...heck, I'll do a puzzle.

lol @ Bill. How true.

Oh my gosh, I didn't know about the knuckle trick before or the other cooler ways to tie your shoes. I have to say, I like Kristen's way of remembering days of the month. And I really want to try the fast way to tie shoelaces. But I really, really want to learn to multiply on my fingers.

I remember as a young adult finding a book of math shortcuts. It was so exciting to me to learn all those cool tricks. I wondered why they didn't teach those in school.

Thanks everyone for making me smarter today than I was yesterday. (✬‿✬)
