Mermaid tail? ...snake striking? (but no fangs)...can't line either of those up with "W.T" though....

Nice first puzzle! Just the right amount of difficulty.

You must have worked really hard on this puzzle. It is no fluke that it came out so well.

LOL, Brian! There you go, spouting off again! ...and now, before you can re-tail-iate, I'll be baleen off this page! Bye bye....

Found to be solvable with moderate lookahead by infrapinklizzard.

edge logic on c20 can place both 5s

I was just floundering around until I figured out the edge logic. Fun solve. I would love confirmation on the "WT" though.

I had to also do edge logic on R1 to make R1C18-20 dots. If I did not have R1C18 a dot, then I could not properly do the edge logic on C20.

If I do edge logic on C20 and see what happens with C19, I was only able to make R6C20 and R15C20 black. I was left with 3 possible outcomes that does not contradict C19 (R2-6 and R15-19, R2-6 and R11-15, and R6-10 and R15-19).

With R1C18 being a dot and comparing to C18 instead of C19, if you fill in R6-10 or R11-15, this makes it so you cannot fill in all four 2 clues of C18. So R2-6 and R15-19 are where the 5s must go.

Did I miss something else or is that correct?

Gator, this looks about like what I got. I saw that C18/19 R1 were dots, but I don't know if it's critical. So I'll detail the pedantic stuff.

I just made R1C20 a dot (C19 starts with 3 otherwise,) then I saw R15C20 must be black. If it is not, then C10-12 are black, and C9 or C13 is black. But that's a contradiction, as you'd have a 4 in column 19.

But then if C6 were a dot, C8-10 are black and you have the same contradiction with R8 and R12.

Making C20R10 black gives no space for all the 2's in row 18. Similarly for C20R11. Then, edge logic.

I butchered this at first as I somehow reasoned that you couldn't place a black square at C20R19. It's always a good feeling to recover from that.

It should be W.F., of course. ^_^
