I was tempted by the The Great Wave but that was way out of my artistic league. Or the other side with the Shinkansen passing. In the end went for the depiction that I hoped most people would know.

Yeah, how do you get "blossoms" out of "sounds like endless gossamer"?

Well, I guess technically it should have been cherry blossom. Blossom sounds like gossamer without its ending -er.

Yes, second word has seven letters, so definitely "blossom". I had presumed Joe's initial answer was a slip of the finger and I didn't want to be too pedantic: it's meant to be a bit of fun after all. btw there's a website for cherry blossom time in Japan. It's too late now for southern Japan but grab an airline ticket for Sapporo and you will catch the festivities.
