I subscribe to the Torquemada school of cryptic clues. "One doesn't need to mean what one says, but one must say what one means."

In this case, the clue should be something like "Synagogue VIP adds afternoon service, reportedly for small mammal" to indicate that one is adding a homonym for "tea".

This is my preference. I know there are a lot of British cryptics that ignore the strict rules.

The puzzle was fun and with a good picture.

You didn't say whether it was 6 letters, so I can only assume it's a RabbiT. :)

Regarding comment #3...as far as I can figure it, this is what I think Gaynor intends:

(In) = in
(part of France) = fra
(rosy) = pink
(Liz) = liz
(zaps) = z
(headless hard) = ard

(puzzle maker) = infrapinklizzard

The only clue with which I had a bit of a struggle was the (zaps) = "z" because nowhere could I find "zaps" being shortened to "z" in common use English or slang.

Clever to respond to infrapinklizzard with a puzzle, Gaynor...kudos!
