LOL I have never been able to make out the actual lyrics after "put me down", so I'm scared that I was able to recognize and sing along as I read the misheard lyrics. I had to Google to find out the real lyrics.

It's not one of my favorite Beach Boys songs, so the mondegreen works for me!

I didn't recognize it, so I did a web search. In case it's useful to anybody, it's from "Help Me Rhonda" -- as Juli said -- and that the original is, "Well since she put me down I've been out doing in my head."

I would have said that I knew the song "Help Me Rhonda," but neither lyric was familiar to me.

Agreed. I know the chorus very well, but (clearly) not the verses.
