Puzzle Description:

I'm a rebel with a kickstand

#1: Aurelian Ginkgo (AurelianGinkgo) on Feb 18, 2018

Is it from an older song or a relatively new one? It doesn't sound like any misheard lyrics I've ever heard.

I tried googling it and found it was from the group Portugal, the Man. Whom I'm not familiar with. But I thoroughly enjoyed the puzzle, never the less.

I'd never heard the song before, so I'm not sure what he's supposed to be saying. Maybe, "I'm a rebel just for kicks, man"? (Edit: The last word should be "now" according to a lyrics site)

Totally abstract until I read the description, and then the dirt bike POPPED! Nice image, and I especially like the way it goes way out of the frame.

I thought it sounded a little familiar, so I looked for older versions, but no. The reason it sounds familiar is because the riff with "I'm a rebel just for kicks, man" is from Please Mr Postman. (A very sped-up version of the the first line "Wait a minute, Mr Postman".)

Although, I swear I've heard a version of it before. It sounds oh so seventies and there's a line "I've been feelin' it since 1966, man". Either they've made a version of a seventies song with a different title, or they've done an extremely good job of mocking-up an early seventies song (their album is called "Woodstock" after all).

You may have heard it on the commercial for Vitamin Water with Aaron Paul.

Nope. I haven't watched TV for several years now. I'm sure it's just a resemblance to another song.

Ah yes, now I know the song. Great puzzle Brian. Love the perspective. It kind of reminds of puzzles they used to do in Games Magazine. They would take a picture of any everyday object but blow it up really big so that it zeroed in on one part of the object and your task was to figure out what the object was. Great picture!

I hear this song at my local athletic club. It's good to know we're getting new mondegreens from new songs, even after the term "mondegreen" has been coined. Anyway, I didn't catch the lyrics at first, so I'm not surprised this song got a mondegreen.
