Puzzle Description:

#1: Mark Wenzel (cheezeman) on Jan 24, 2018 [SPOILER]

Cooper?
#2: Carol Brand (KarylAnn) on Jan 24, 2018 [SPOILER]
I agree with Mark. Though it could also be Coopersmith and therefore be Smith.
#3: Meg Smith (mamadragonfreak) on Jan 24, 2018 [SPOILER]
my maiden name is Webber which is a barrel maker. of course Cooper is more likely the correct answer.
#4: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Jan 24, 2018
Nickname Coop.
#5: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Jan 24, 2018
Didn't know this one. But, no matter - fun puzzle.
#6: annalivia (annalivia) on Jan 24, 2018
I was thinking Tapper, as in Jake. Don't brewers tap their kegs?
#7: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Jan 24, 2018 [SPOILER]
I'm pretty sure Webber (and Weber, etc) are derived from Weaver. A cooper is a barrelmaker, and they also made pails and buckets, very important tools of the time. Not all barrels were watertight. Barrels were the cartons of the day shipping all sorts of dry goods from tobacco to crackers ("sitting around the cracker barrel").
#8: Gary Webster (glwebste) on Jan 28, 2018 [SPOILER]
I was hoping for Brewer, of course...

I think Joe is right, too. I'm a Webster, which is somewhat different from Weber, but I've looked it up.
