Puzzle Description:

#1: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Jan 23, 2018

The occupation was blacksmith and as was the custom way back when, they got their names ffom their occupations. So I'm thinking Smith. Very nice anvil and tools. And as usual underrated so far.
#2: Mark Wenzel (cheezeman) on Jan 24, 2018 [SPOILER]
I think Smith is correct, but I think it could also be Ferrier, since it that looks like a horseshoe being made.
#3: Lollipop (lollipop) on Jan 24, 2018
Mark, the word you're looking for is farrier, and sorry, it's the wrong shape for a horseshoe.
#4: Carol Brand (KarylAnn) on Jan 24, 2018 [SPOILER]
I think Norma is correct. I think the tools are a hammer and tongs.
#5: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Jan 24, 2018

#8: Ga Hendrick (GaHendrick) on Jan 24, 2018
Very nice puzzle. Thanks. Great use of the accent color.
#9: James Haney (elpjrh) on Jan 24, 2018
I'm getting told that there are multiple solutions. But I don't see how I can modify the solution I found to make it the "correct" solution.

Well, I just turned some pixels on and off and now it seems ok. Can bad internet connections cause weird glitches like this?
#11: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Jan 24, 2018
Some people have had issues with some browsers that don't work quite as they should with this site. It's something you might look into.
#12: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Jan 24, 2018 [SPOILER]
I am a blacksmith, and I've done a little whitesmithing. If I mix them, I should get greysmithing...

Nah, Ill just stick to puzzlesmithing.
#13: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Jan 24, 2018
Glad to hear that, Joe.
#14: Susan Duncan (medic25733) on Feb 11, 2018

#15: BlackCat (BlackCat) on Jun 29, 2018
OK
#16: Yonah Kondor (yokon965) on Feb 9, 2021 [SPOILER]
Ah, but what does a blacksmith do with said hammer, tongs, and anvil but strike... therefore Striker; and now (3 years later) we may proceed to make Airplane! references--go! :)
#17: Bill Eisenmann (Bullet) on Apr 28, 2021 [SPOILER]
Could conceivably be Eisenmann, which translates as Ironman.

Then again there's Schmidt...
#18: Bill Eisenmann (Bullet) on Apr 28, 2021 [SPOILER]
I think this is the fist time in ages I've seen an anvil without a coyote around :))
