LL from the bottom up until lookahead is required; EL R15 places the 29 clue between C5 to C34, filling in C6 to C33 with black b/c C1-4 have to be white/dots. LL continues for a little bit. Make sure at this point to check R8-9 with LL so that you don't miss whiting out/dotting C18, R8-9.#3: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Dec 26, 2017
From this point, I don't know if anyone has better advice. I tested some edge logic by seeing how far I could go by temporarily assuming that C1R12 was black. There was no easily discernable contradictions, and so I followed that assumption to the end. LL finished the puzzle, so I feel I finished by guessing, not pure logic. This is because if I had assumed wrong and followed the trail to a dead end that is far beyond deep lookahead, it would have simply been a wrong assumption. My point is, an expert needs to find a hard-and-fast, inarguable dead-end breaker that I did not find the right way. If none of the experts can, then it might have to be rated "solvable with some guessing." I will not mark it as such because I just don't know enough to judge it as so. I would like to see that this is solvable with moderate lookahead, and I would also like to learn what I could have done to solve it with hard-and-fast logic. Any better hints out there?

I had to guess, but it was a correct guess so I'll claim victory anyway! :)#5: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Dec 27, 2017
This was a much more difficult solve. I had to rely on cursive logic from the previous puzzle. :)#6: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Dec 28, 2017
"Cursive logic"!? I didn't know that was a thing.#7: Aurelian Ginkgo (AurelianGinkgo) on Dec 28, 2017
Or did you mean cursing logic "F&%$ it, I'll just guess"
Am I right in putting together that "cursive logic" is when the solver assumes that all lines connect somewhere?#8: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Dec 29, 2017
Yeah. I tend to give whimsical names to different types of "logic" (sounds better than "guessing"). Goatee logic, shoulder logic, etc.#9: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Dec 29, 2017
And yes, this was based on Brian's previous puzzle, in which the letters all connected as if written in cursive. :)
there is no guessing, silly-billies.... I didn't track the solve per se, but it really isn't too bad. I believe I used el on the bottom row. and then iel on the 6 in c4. game over. the iel breaks it wide open. if you still don't "get it", I'll re-solve and post. no more "?"'s though#10: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Dec 29, 2017
I prob will re-do and post, when I'm slightly less inebriated. happy new year all!#11: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Jan 5, 2018 [HINT]

after ll
el 29 r15 = c1-2, c35 w
el 5 c35 = r13 w
el 2 r14 = c1-3 w
ll
el 6 c4 = r15 w
ll
and that's where i'm stuck with 42 black.
Have you sobered up yet, Kurt?
yeah, Joe...unfortunately, I have....lol
I'm tellin ya, all you need is el on the bottom row and el/iel to place a few dots at the bottom left of the puzz. ll will finish it out. after that, there is a sneaky black or so to find that's part of the "6" in r11, but it's pretty well straight-forward after you place some dots in the bottom left.
it is more than just iel in c4 as said before though. you've got to do iel to get a dot or so with the 3 in c2 first. and yes you can! keep working from the left edge and moving inwards. until you've got enough dots to finally place black in c4...
