Remember when it was called centigrade? I wonder when that fell out of fashion.#2: sanane samanye (maceraseven) on Oct 1, 2017
Before being renamed to honor Anders Celsius in 1948, the unit was called centigrade, from the Latin centum, which means 100, and gradus, which means steps.#3: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Oct 1, 2017 [SPOILER]
It was redefined to become more precise, and when that happened, it was renamed Celsius.#4: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Oct 3, 2017
Interestingly, Celsius's original scale, while having 100 degrees between freezing and boiling water, had 0° for boiling and 100° for freezing.
