A great puzzle. Wikipedia has a great picture of one - I couldn't resist finding a picture, since I've never seen on in "real" life. We collected snakes and had a tarantula growing up. And our dog got bit by a rattle snake. Actually saved my brother from being bit.#10: Nancy Snyder (naneki) on Jul 13, 2008
Wonderful learning exercise - I may suggest this one next time I do a teacher's workshop.
great work thank you marz :)#11: ErgoDyne (ergodyne) on Jul 18, 2008
Isn't it actually a "monotreme"?#12: Marie-Louise Ambrey (marz) on Jul 18, 2008 [SPOILER]

Uncle Wiki says there are 4 species of echidna. (Those plus the platypus make 5.) That sounds like cheating, to me. ;)#14: John Reid (femvoxfan) on Jul 3, 2020
Baby echidnae are called puggles. So are baby platypi, unofficially. :)
Great puzzle, mate!
