Puzzle Description:

Swimming pool, vinyl liner repair kit. After trying waterproof tape patches with little success,my son A-J decided that a sprig of long grass would do the trick. He stuck the stem thru the tiny hole in the liner and pulled it from the inside until the fat part of the grass plugged the hole. It gives new meaning to "Why pay money when there are things around the house that will do the job". I have another challenge for all you creators out there. Make a puzzle about an idea you had to fix something with whatever you had handy at the time. Or if you've never had to do this make one of something that you think might work to fix anything. It can be no bigger than 40x40 and you can use any and all colours available. :)

Mother is the necessity of invention.

Or something. :)

Thx Norma and Kristen. When I worked in the printing and photocopy industry there were many times when I had to use my imagination to get a machine working until I could get the proper part. An unscheduled downtime cost the printer money.

You hear people say that kids these days have no imagination, and in many cases that is true. I'm proud of A-J for using his noggin on this one. :)

Way to go, AJ!

I love this - the idea, the puzzle, the challenge. Yeah!

And, great "quote," Norma. :-)

Thanks for the challenge, Aldege. You're absolutely right; everything can be solved with a little creative ingenuity. I say all the time, "There is a solution to every problem." I find this is true at the register of my job all the time. My answer to your challenge will be published shortly.

Just today, I couldn't find any bubble wrap, so I tore a bunch of scrap paper into strips, then curled those strips to provide cushion. You really get creative when you have zero budget and nonstandard items on hand. When I worked at a theatre, my props budget was about $200 per show. Ingenuity is often paired with inadequate funding. :)
