I try to put myself in the heart of the mother who is grieving. I believe in "forgive, but don't forget." I have difficulty in forgiving the person who raped my daughter, the woman who physically abused her, and the people who allowed her to be sexually molested repeatedly in their care. What really hurt were all the lies to cover up the crimes. And even when evidence was produced to prove all the wrongdoing, there was no justice. That made it so difficult. But if I don't forgive, I only increase my own pain. So I try to forgive.

But the grief I live with every day at the injustice is heavy to bear. I can't imagine the grief of even one parent of the missing son or daughter in Argentina. And to multiply that by 30,000, that is a lot of pain.

When i did a search for 30,000 people, I found out about the 30,000 people who go missing in Scotland each year (most are children, youth, and vulnerable adults, but most are found and returned); about the 30,000 missing so far in Mexico. Just last night I watched a documentary about the missing children in India, and learned of the grief the parents continue to endure.

I think being informed and having awareness is important. I read an article about the Madres in Buenos Aires. Here is one mother's story:

Nice image Claudia. I try not to let myself think about these atrocities. Being a father of 4 girls,thinking about this makes me sick to my stomach. My anger builds to the point that I can't restrain myself and I want to hurt bad people. When my oldest daughter told me she was raped once,she was wise to wait till she was older and I couldn't do anything about it. However she suffered alone with her thoughts.

Teresa,are you saying that this actually happened to your daughter? If so,I can't imagine how you deal with the pain. All I can say is that I am so sorry to hear this. You are one strong woman. :(

Yes, Aldege. My sweet girl has a developmental disability, and is so innocent and vulnerable. She has never forgotten, but has recovered well over the years.
