Oops. I posted that twice. Perhaps I'll replace this with different text later...

It required a lot of "look-ahead," but I really enjoyed it.

Sorry, Dave B. I'm sort of thinking my edge logic on the first row is faulty because I can jump the gun. I tried to be disciplined and use logic alone, but I couldn't help but already know what's filled in and what's not. I may have just input what I know is there. I'm really not sure.
#7: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jun 26, 2017
All the legal logic only got me so far. I had to end up guessing, more than once. Let's see what one of our certified experts has to say.

So I'm coming to the conclusion that this monster is too hard for most human beings. I apologize. I am not skilled enough to have predicted it's true level of difficulty when I made the puzzle, but I am looking at it objectively to learn as a puzzle maker. I noticed that all my puzzles were ranking too easy. I could have done this one with more blue, but it was snoresville easy and boring. I took out a bunch of blue squares and replaced them with blanks (or dots, as most people see it. I opted to start with light gray squares across the board, so my blanks are white, not dots.) What say all of you? Should I edit the puzzle to make it a little less impossible?
#11: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jun 27, 2017
No, don't edit it now. That could be frustrating for anyone solving the puzzle.

Level of difficulty is a real challenge for me too. I don't want to make them too easy, but I always solve them myself first using puzzle logic (according to Jan's guidelines), and if I can't solve it, I edit it before publishing.

You can always do what Aldege does, and make it just one step away from lookahead, making it line and color logic but at the extreme end. Those are fun!
#12: Aurelian Ginkgo (AurelianGinkgo) on Jun 27, 2017
Good tip. Thanks, Teresa.
#13: Aldege Cholette (Aldege) on Jun 27, 2017
You can also use blots but always make sure they're line and colour logic solvable. :)

Found to require some guessing by gator.

Sorry, everyone. I will chalk this up to experience. I had no idea it was going to be so hard. Thanks for the verdict, Gator. I am going to actually finish solving my own puzzle now that I know I might as well guess.

Very pretty. Tough puzzle.
#20: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jul 23, 2017
Not only is it solvable now, but the color logic was fun, and the image is so lovely. The scene is so recognizable, I can almost hear the water and feel the mist. Great job, Aurelian.
#21: Gator (gator) on Jul 24, 2017
Much better. :) Nice solve.
#22: Carol Brand (KarylAnn) on Jul 24, 2017
Didn't solve the first so I can't comment on the improvement. This puzzle, however, was totally solvable and lots of fun. Great image and nice story.
#23: Aurelian Ginkgo (AurelianGinkgo) on Jul 24, 2017
The first time around I was restricted to one color, according to the challenge Aldege set into place. As I was fixing it, I didn't care and made it the way I originally wanted to. ^-^
#24: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Jul 25, 2017
I've done that a couple of times. One was for the running of the bulls (we were restricted to No Black, but the bulls looked silly- 15848 and 15862), and another was a little crawfish, which I changed from red & black to a single color for the challenge (18688 and 18702). Both times, I just made 2 versions.
#25: Aurelian Ginkgo (AurelianGinkgo) on Jul 25, 2017
#24: If the bulls were red, they should have had wings. Nyeh heh. If they were blue, maybe they were really buffalo (like the blue buffalo dog food...) and if they were green... I have no commercialism joke for a green bull. Maybe they were sea sick?
#26: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Jul 26, 2017
You should solve it and find out. ;)

Blue bulls vs. blue balls is a closer play on words, but Blue Buffalo is probably more family friendly. :)

...and i think you should make a puzzle of both kristen! :)
#28: Aldege Cholette (Aldege) on Jul 26, 2017
This is funny stuff guys. I think Kristen should make a puzzle of angry Red Bulls with blue balls. Ouch, they hurt. :)

Just putting this out there: I don't appreciate dirty jokes.
Sorry, I'm not pulling any punches with that statement.
#30: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Jul 27, 2017
Some do and some don't I guess...but I DO appreciate that your version of "not pulling any punches" was so civil :) Glad we are all adults and can express our opinions. I'll try to keep your's in mind and try to respect it ;)
#31: Aldege Cholette (Aldege) on Jul 27, 2017
I agree with David and I also will try to keep you in mind when sharing a joke with my friends here Aurelian. However these little dirty jokes were far from vulgar and no foul language was used so I think were o.k. I also respect the way you handled getting your opinion across. :)

Lots of waterfalls around here where they never were before. We had 5" of rain in 12 hours after an already wet spring and places where the falls are usually dry, it looks like spring melt off all over again. I like this image Aurelian

Stumbled around in the first version, but tried it again and though tricky, a nice solve. And a beautiful puzzle.
