Sorry, I couldn't get him all in there with the grid size(I couldn't waste the space portraying his unmistakable hair spike)....nor could I add his nose freckles without big headache making it only one poss solution that solves

you'll need el in c1. and one more instance of advanced logic late into the puzz...pay attention to the left eyebrow. Joe can explain it to ya if you still don't see it

those who have been here for some time know what I mean though....we're missing some very key players from the group. we used to feed off each other, so there was no lack of inspiration. and some top quality puzzles produced, both in terms of image and solve. guys like Kadou and Kai. tough competition there! even Adam/bugaboo made his contributions, even though he added drama and was a lil rough around the edges. ofc, Jan is sorely missed...but you could name a lot more. this is more than just a puzzle site, it's a community. some really great creators remain, though they aren't nearly as active as they once were. and they might throw a few more great ones out there if they were feeding off others' energy and creativity. we all get busy with life and take our breaks, myself definitely included. Gator's in and out as well. but when we come back, even briefly, it's nice to see those familiar faces :) I hope this site lasts a long long time! sorry for the rant, but that's how I see it...

wonderful puzzle AND sentiment kurt! thank you for your contributions and for being such an important part of this community!

little while after the EL in C1, that advanced move he mentions could be this one:

- whether C18R8 or C18R10 is black, C17R8 is black

I missed your b-day, D...hope you had a wonderful day! and many more to come :)
#5: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Jun 24, 2017
if no one solved our creations, it'd take away from all of it. so I'll give a special shout out to a couple that I know solve ALL of them, whether they comment or not. Lollipop. Wombat. jewel. whether you create or not, you are special too. you def add to the group
#6: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Jun 24, 2017
and that damn gothic feline. Andraya solves everything. never a comment though. bad girl!
#7: Pam (RhiannonA) on Jun 24, 2017
Thanks for the puzzle. I recognized him without the iconic spike.
#8: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Jun 24, 2017
Good likeness. And you are right, Kurt. There have been many great contributors who have come and gone and It's always nice when they pop in again. I think with the demise of the contest, people kind of lost the impetus to create. Plus, for a while there, we had an influx of new people who were publishing copies from elsewhere which kind of put a damper on things. I'm so glad Teresa's idea caught on and I hope it continues. We don't need a contest. Just ideas to think about. And I love seeing the different interpretations. That's why I always entered the contests.
#9: Jota (jota) on Jun 24, 2017
Great one!
#10: Barb Edwards (babarann) on Jun 24, 2017
I recognized him early on. Love the freckles!
#11: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jun 24, 2017
Great image, very recognizable. Tough but gratifying solve. Wonderful in every way, Kurt. Thanks.

The "gang" might be missing a few, but we're still a tight group, not too tight to welcome newbies. I'm glad to see everyone jumping in, either to create a puzzle or to leave a nice comment.
#12: Aldege Cholette (Aldege) on Jun 24, 2017
No need to be sorry Kurt buddy. You said it perfectly. This is a very special community indeed. Your puzzle is perfect. It depicts "our pbn gang" and it's for Teresa's challenge. I think we should try to take turns coming up with a challenge. In fact I will issue a challenge now. Same format 30x30 B&W. Topic is make a puzzle of something cool, amazing or funny of something that happened to you so far this year. I'm going to make one now but hopefully someone will beat me to it. I also agree about the consistent solvers. Were nothing without you guys and welcome to all you newbies. You've joined a very special group. :)
#13: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Jun 24, 2017
What if you're not having a good year?
#14: Aldege Cholette (Aldege) on Jun 25, 2017
Gee I'm sorry if your not having a good year so far Norma. To be honest I never considered that. If you can't come up with something Norma just give us any wonderful puzzle of yours. Make it in the format for the challenge and label it as such. There could be an FBA in it for you. Surely that would improve your year. :)
#15: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Jun 25, 2017
It's that if it weren't for my bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all kind of year. My latest in the bad luck department is I have broken out in hives. The left side of my face looks like some one slugged me. Does anyone have a good remedy to stop the itching?
#16: Aurelian Ginkgo (AurelianGinkgo) on Jun 25, 2017
Ooooooooooooooooo. I like Aldege's challenge. I know just what I'm gonna do.

And to respond to everything else that's been going on in this post, Kurt, I feel the same. This is a community of puzzle solvers. Since we are united by a common interest, we all get along pretty well. It's peaceful here. I'm getting to know a lot of the active ones, and am becoming a bit of one myself. I haven't done much lately because of this video game I got sucked into. It took all my free-time, but I've almost completed it.(If only I could get back to my novel and publish it.) Now I'm back and I'm excited about the challenges. After all, I joined the site after the wcps were long done. I never got to be involved. I don't like competition anyway, so I really like the "no winner or losers" thing we've got going now. Can't wait to get started!
#17: Aurelian Ginkgo (AurelianGinkgo) on Jun 25, 2017
Btw, I have no idea who the character is. What's his name, and what movie/ tv show/ book/ media is he from?
#18: Aldege Cholette (Aldege) on Jun 25, 2017
Love your enthusiasm Aurelian. :)
#19: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Jun 25, 2017

Wow. That's an oldie. I first heard that in grade school and had totally forgotten it. :)

:-D
#23: Gary Webster (glwebste) on Jun 27, 2017
Thanks so much to this community for creating and discussing such good puzzles. I'm just one of those solvers, but I enjoy this site so, so much. Pretty much every morning, I come down early (though I'm retired) and solve a couple of puzzles, "to keep the brain active."

Really, because it's FUN. Thank you all again.
#24: Aldege Cholette (Aldege) on Jun 27, 2017
And thank you Gary. We always love hearing from the solvers how much they enjoyed our puzzles. :)
#25: Susan Duncan (medic25733) on Jun 28, 2017
You all know that I am a great fan and always comment on every puzzle I solve. Someone in the thread above said that life gets busy and this is true - we get dragged away but always come back to solve some more. I think this idea of challenge puzzles is a great one and I will try to come up with something as well. For now I am going to try out Al's challenge.
#26: Web Paint-By-Number Robot (webpbn) on Sep 23, 2017
Found to be solvable with moderate lookahead by gator.
#27: Gator (gator) on Sep 23, 2017
I think I'll always be in and out, but I try to make it back when I can. I am happy to be apart of the gang and will continue to do so for as long as I can. Thanks for the puzzle and the enjoyable solve. :)
#28: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Sep 26, 2017
anything for you, mr Gator :)
#29: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Sep 27, 2017
