We grow a lot of rocks in AZ, also. Lots of trees in mountainous parts of AZ. Lots of cactus elsewhere. A handful of man made lakes. Oh, and the Grand Canyon.

Good one John. I'm a little surprised that you know of The Arrogant Worms although I shouldn't be. You being from Toronto and all. I guess it's cause of your age that I'm surprised.. Your older than me aren't you? I'm 64. My wife Niki introduced me to them. I hadn't even heard of them before that. :)

You grow rocks in Arizona Norma. I'm just kidding. You know,I continuously brag about how beautiful Canada is. But the truth is this whole planet is full of beautiful scenery. In my Road & Track magazine they show some of the most scenic hwy's in the States. They are breathtaking. I wish some of you guys would make puzzles about them and brag about your country a little more. At least from a scenic perspective. :)

I may have to listen to these Arrogant Worms. :)

I got introduced to Arrogant Worms by my niece and nephew about a decade ago. We got to see them live in concert about 4 years ago. They do a certain amount of acting in their live shows - the Big Fat Road Manager was especially memorable.

And yes, you are but an egg (although, in those terms, that would leave me peeking through a newly cracked shell).

I love it... the puzzle and the comments.

There are rocks and trees all over the world, of course. My wife has taken the train across Canada (well, Toronto to Edmonton usually, once to Vancouver) a number of times. After getting out of southern Ontario early the first day, the rest of the first two days is almost entirely looking at rocks and trees and occasionally water. Very beautiful, but also very repetitive after a while. Every few hours there might be a sign of humanity (other than the rails, bridges, odd tunnel etc. required for the train itself). Then, after finally getting past Lake Superior and out of Ontario, there is the second two day round of boredom - crossing the prairies (here at least, there is more sign of habitation, and it is visible for a long time before and after you reach it). Eventually, you reach the foothills and the Rockies and you have interesting rocks that are always in varied configurations. That run north of Superior fits really well with the chorus of the song.

I figured it was that song you meant, instead of something like "History is Made by Stupid People", or "Carrot Juice is Murder."

Yes, I'm in the US, I had a Canadian friend who sent me several of their songs.

Last year one of my co-workers told me of seeing a baby alligator in a pet shop in Morgantown, WV. She had wanted to get it and name it "Rippy" but her dorm wouldn't allow it. I looked at her funny, there was only one Rippy I knew of, so I asked her if it went "chomp, chomp, chomp." She looked at me funny, and sang, "...in the bottom of the swamp, swamp, swamp." I suppose there are stranger things for two people to bond over, than Arrogant Worms songs.

Wow this is so cool that a lot of us are somewhat fans of The Arrogant Worms. The fact that you saw them live John is way cool. :)

Looks like snow, too! Sort of like what is happening in Denver today!
#10: John Macdonald (perlwolf) on May 18, 2017
Well, Gary, it sometimes happens that there is snow in parts of Canada, obscuring the rocks, hardening the water, and decorating the trees. But it feels more like summer for me today - 24C (or about 75F for the metric-challenged). To not look like snow, I want to use brown (which webpbn doesn't support) and it would make the puzzle even easier to solve.
