Until I moved back from the screen and let my eyes unfocus a bit, I was sure that it must be a puddle of Tim Hortons coffee spilled on the sidewalk. If you had left this as a guessing exercise, I would have described the puddle, adding that it had been dammed from going out the drain by some chewed logs.

Man that was a tough solve! But really good puzzle. Definitely looks like a beaver. Well done, Aldege.

aldege, good image and solve :)
#8: Aldege Cholette (Aldege) on May 4, 2017
Thx Tom buddy. :)

Thx Gator. Hmmm that is strange. I never thought of it. :)

That's funny John. What's also funny or maybe ironic is that this puzzle and future ones from myself will be created from images printed on the latest Tim Horton cups that are being used right now. Have you seen them yet John? :)

Thx Jota. :)

Thx David,Teresa and Travis. :)

Nice one! Right up until the end, I thought it was going to be a melting snowman - but I guess the melting part would be less common.
We have beaver down here in Virginia, too, at the lake I jog around. I never see them on the trail, just in the water by their lodge, but there's always a new stump or a branch missing whenever I go out to run.
#10: Aldege Cholette (Aldege) on May 4, 2017
Thx Gaynor. We actually don't see many beavers, but we see their huts all the time. :)

I had to throw in a couple of guesses because my good monitor bit the dust and I am using my small TV . Unfortunately black and blue look very much alike, so I have to hover over the number to be sure. But I'm glad I stuck with it even though it was hard going because the final image is great.

Hmm, have I seen a Tim Hortons cup???? Well, I sometimes manage to go for minutes at a time *without* seeing one. Can you spell ubiquitous?
#15: Aldege Cholette (Aldege) on May 7, 2017
Thx Gary. :)

That's funny John, but have seen this one I'm making puzzles from? Or do you have different ones in Toronto? :)
#16: John Macdonald (perlwolf) on May 8, 2017
We've got the same one, I think. Although, come to think of it, ubiquitous might apply more fully in the maritimes than in Toronto. About 15 years ago, when my kids were still kids to *any* observer (they're always kids to their parents, at any age) we were driving through Halifax around 1AM and Jordan asked us all "What is special about this intersection?". Katrina answered almost instantly "There's no Tim Hortons?" to general laughter. (Jordan actually had an observation about the traffic lights having a different night mode than most of the other intersections.) In Toronto, you *only* find a Timmy's at every major intersection - there seemed to be more of them in Halifax.

As the boys from Monty Python would say " You are lucky". We have 1 Tim Horton's where we live and it's a 40klm jaunt. The next closest one is about 35klm from there. Needless to say, they're always busy. :)
#18: John Macdonald (perlwolf) on May 9, 2017
And it's uphill both ways! :-) At work, there is a Tims in the food court downstairs - that is a bit less than 35km. It doesn't have a drive-thru though. :-)

Actually, I feel your pain second hand - my wife knows all of the neighbourhood Timmys, and which ones are the best at getting orders right, making the coffee perfectly, etc. She gets a coffee every day on her way to school, and gets another for another teacher who doesn't pass a Timmy on her route to school. On weekends, anytime I have a car errand in the morning, a stop at Timmy on the way back is automatic. In fact, when we went to drop our cars off to get the tires switched from snow to summer, I explained to the deskman that the other car wasn't there yet because of a mechanical problem - it was incapable of passing a Timmys without the steering wheel pulling towards the entrance.

That's funny John. We have a choice of which town to go to for our Independent Grocery store.(which is part of the Loblaws group). We invariably choose Perth because that's where the Timmy's is. It's amazing how many Timmy's screw up your order. Same with McDonalds. :)

When one's first efforts result in "no Hints" one quits.
#24: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Aug 2, 2021
If your "first efforts" is to hit the Hint button, you should attempt a second effort of looking at the clues before you quit :(
