The trick to winning at the slots is to own the slot machine.

Hehe.

I took my kids to Las Vegas and went to Circus Circus, so the kids could play upstairs while I played the slots down stairs. My intention was to show them that gambling is a waste of money (but it is fun). So while they were just up at the top of the stairway, and I was a few feet away next to the landing, I hit the jackpot on a quarter machine. My kids watched as $2,000 of quarters poured from the machine as we caught it in buckets.

How lucky for you, Teresa. Slot machines hate me but love my money (which I never see again).

Very cute slot machine.

Good one! And cute story (as long as nobody caught the gambling bug) ;)

We left the casino then. I gave them each a one hundred dollar bill and allowed them to spend half and save half, according to our pre-agreed upon plan for windfall money. They were surprised at how quickly their $50 went, but they each chose a cool toy that will always give them joy and remind them of the fun we had. I bought AV stuff with my half of the spending money, and made movie memories. I won't say what they bought, as it could make a cool puzzle.

Teresa, how has your luck been since then? Great story!!

Susan, my life is one miracle of "good luck" after another. I get what I need, when I need it. I was very desperate and poor and distraught when this happened to me:

All my luck began to happen coincidentally (?) on the day my oldest child Karie was born, before I met her. There's a riddle for you, which is answered in the article. :-)

After reading the article, I am pretty much at a loss for words. The world is in desperate need of people like you. When you look around at what is happening in our country right now you can only think about what a waste of energy going into all those violent protests. What a difference it would make if we could channel all that energy into projects like yours. I thank you for your dedication.

Thank you, Norma.

I went on a one-week cruise, once, and I took my kids to Disneyland. Other than that, I didn't really spend much on myself. We continued to live frugally, mindfully. I knew that 20 years would go by just like that, and they did. I wanted to not be shocked back into poverty, so it was not a big deal when it ended. Getting a decent part-time job with the state was another blessing - just enough, just in time. :-)
