I think a circle has 360 degrees. Ancient Romans (or maybe the ancient Greeks) decided this would be good because 360 is divisible by many numbers. Also, so I understand, their "year" used to be 360 days. Yes, they knew it was really 365.25 (appx) days -- the last five days were a holiday.#3: Bruce Yanoshek (yanogator) on Apr 15, 2017
Actually, Susan, it was the Babylonians, and the reason was that their number system was base 60. It was later realized that 360 has many factors, so that was just a bonus, not the original reason.#4: Susan Nagy (susannagy54) on Apr 16, 2017
