Puzzle Description:

Well gang,guess who's washing machine is still not fixed. Yep,I've been washing clothes in the tub by hand for 3 weeks now. The guy ordered the part and said it would be here in 3 days. I kept pestering him and he kept saying he's not sure when it will be here. So I looked for the part # and ordered it from Sears myself. They said it will be 5 to 7 business days. I called the repair guy and told him and he said "good,I'll cancel my order. Try installing it yourself and call me if you have problems". I wonder if he'll bill me for his visit here.

Bummer! You seem to have had such good luck with the people of NB. I guess bad apples crop up everywhere.

Excellent image. I am so sorry to hear that the washer is broken. There are bad apples everywhere and when you run into one ugh. I think if you talk to Sears they can have someone come out and install it if you do not know how to do it yourself (or are you a true DIYer?). My uncle worked for Sears in Chattanooga and he would go out and work on people's appliances.

Any way fun to solve this puzzle.

Thx Norma and Donna. He's not necessarily a bad apple,it's just that he's very old and maybe not as demanding as he could be. In his defense he ordered the part from General Electric who makes the washer for Sears. He never thought to order from Sears. The people from G.E. screwed him around and he wasn't too diligent to hurry them up.

The funny thing is that I initially called Sears for service and they told me that because I didn't purchase a service contract when I bought the machine that they would not send a technician. I said OK then I'll buy a contract now. No no no sir you have to get your machine fixed first,then we'll sell you a contract.

Yes Donna I will be able to fix it once I get the part. There isn't much I can't fix myself. :)

Sears and GE used to make really good appliances that would last 25 years and you didn't need to purchase a 5 year service contract. Of course, YOUR appliances get used just a bit more than the average family. I would be fed up too, if I were you.

I hope you get the part SOON, and can fix it up quickly. Then when you have clothes in the washer, you can make us a puzzle about it.

I'm sorry to hear that's been happening to you. I do commend you for your humorous outlook, though. I like that you implied that your washing machine gets time off. And from the sound of it, it's paid sick time. Unfortunately, you're the one who pays.

Most repairmen charge $40 an hour, $50 if you watch, and $60 if you help!

As it so happens Donna,I was planning to go to Georgia next week to play some golf with my friends Jack Nicklaus,Hubert Green and Jan Stevenson. I'll make sure to bring my tool to fix what needs fixing. :)

You know Travis,when the repairman took the top cover off the machine,there inside was a folded piece of paper. It was a block diagram and a schematic diagram for the machine. When the machine broke I took the back panel off and checked the pump and motor,looking for a sucked up sock or broken belt. Anything obvious. Then I called Sears only to hear " sorry for your luck sir". If I knew they put that sheet in the top panel I could of had the machine fixed in days. :)

Don't get me wrong Teresa. This has been a great machine for almost 5 yrs. But their attitude about not sending a repairman pissed me off. I have to say though,it hasn't been too much of a hardship. Sometimes things like this have a way of putting life back into perspective. :)

As always very enjoyable puzzle. I love filling in the goatee first and seeing if I am correct. I am late getting to this puzzle so hopefully you have it fixed by now.

Thx Susan. I just got it working about 2 hrs ago. After ordering 2 parts that the block diagram said could be the problem but did not fix it. I was able to do some test on it to be able to see that the problem was that it wouldn't drain. I therefore took the drain pump out where I found 2 socks plugging the drain pump. Even though it has been frustrating,I feel there have been some valuable lessons learned thru this. :)

So that's where the socks go? Glad you are up and running. More time to make puzzles now. :)

Yes Norma. Most people think it's the dryer that eats them,but it's the washer. :)
