Jacques de Molay was the 23rd and last Grand Master of the Knights Templar. His goal as Grand Master was to reform the Order, and adjust it to the situation in the Holy Land during the waning days of the Crusades. King Philip IV of France, deeply in debt to the Templars, had Molay and many other French Templars arrested in 1307 and tortured into making false confessions. When Molay later retracted his confession, Philip had him burned upon a scaffold on an island in the River Seine in front of Notre Dame de Paris in March, 1314. The sudden end of both the centuries-old order of Templars and the dramatic execution of its last leader turned Molay into a legendary figure.

I've well known of Jacques de Molay. It is also rumored that the shroud of turin is actually an impression of this man(as it has been carbon-dated to the same time period). he was hung upon a door before being burnt. then taken down, and wrapped in a linen coated with oil. in addition, the shroud of turin traces its ownership through a prominent templar family...... anyhoo, some also say that the superstition of Friday the 13th stems from the raid on the templars, as it was friday, the 13th of october if memory serves. and without looking it up, it was philip the fair in conjunction with pope clementV......

looks nice Iain. I bet you literally spent more time designing it than it took to solve though(esp since you've got 3 versions). 9 mins
