Cute! Looks like they are speaking the same language, so maybe the dog does get the knock knock joke. Who knows.

For a dog, it would have to be a scratch scratch joke.

Thank you Donna and Belita. Good idea Belita. Dogs would definitely be less inclined to bark at scratch scratch than they are at knock knock.

My dog Lucky is the only one in our family that I can have an intelligent conversation with. Instead of me teaching him how to speak,he has taught me to understand his sounds,head movements,paw gestures and such. In fact,I now use him as my financial advisor. Lately his best advice has been " The market hasn't fully recovered yet so your best investment strategy is to cut down on spending. I recommend you feed the other pets less and give me a bit more as my commission". Cute puzzle Norma. :)
