I've never forgotten a great two-colour line drawing I saw many years ago in the New Yorker. There was a body lying on the floor in the background with drips of red coming to the foreground, where there was a person facing the reader and writing the unfinished sentence "The sword is mightier than" in red with the point of a sword, upside down to the reader. Nice puzzle.

I did not know a female swan was called a pen. More learning to be had on webpbn. Great puzzle and nice solve.

This seems to be your first puzzle on this site though you have solved quite a few. I certainly hope you make more.

Very nice!

Well done Leigh. It is indeed a mother swan with her babies. At least it was until I started playing with the pic to make sure it was solvable without any guessing.

Thank you Norma. I did create one other (a 10x10, also a play on words) but it was lost in The Great Crash of 2016.

#16: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Sep 11, 2016
The important thing to remember, is to have a distinct space between PEN and IS.
