No clue :)
#2: besmirched tea (besmirched tea) on Jul 2, 2016
I'm not Canadian, so I don't recognize the image, but the puzzle itself was plenty tough
#3: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Jul 2, 2016
I had to make guesses to finish this. We need some Canadians to weigh in on what this represents.
#4: Donna McFarland (jade8114) on Jul 2, 2016
Georgia Southern Peach, no clue. I guess that means I don't win the fur line FBA (whatever that is).
#5: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Jul 3, 2016
ditto tea
#6: valerie o..travis (bigblue) on Jul 3, 2016

ditto Jota...fun color solve!

I am going to assume that it is an excellent puzzle. I rated it very hard because for some stupid reason, I just cannot suss out red and black puzzles.
#11: Susan Duncan (medic25733) on Jul 3, 2016
I am Canadian and I don't have a clue. Probably going to feel real dumb when I find out. Fun solve
#12: Gaynor Sorrell (gesorrell) on Jul 3, 2016
Fun puzzle. Noticed early on that red squares tended to be placed next to black squares, so that helped me guess fairly accurately. No clue what it is, though. Is that a number 1 at the bottom? Can some Canadian enlighten us?

#13: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Jul 3, 2016
Well I'm not surprised. I will give a hint first before divulging. The image is of two letters intertwined. I'll let you all guess the letters cause if I tell you them the Canadians will guess right away. I want my fellow Canucks to work for their award. I am glad it ended up being a fun solve without using blots although the blots are fun for people too. BTW I think I use blots as much as my good buddy Travis does.lol. :)

Hooray for Susan. It is indeed President's Choice. For those of you unaware they are not just a huge grocery chain. They have their own financial group which is more than just a bank. I've been dealing with them for around 15yrs or more. You never have to pay any monthly fees and never pay for any transactions. Your personalized cheques are supplied free and they pay higher interest than any bank. You also earn points for free groceries. You can't go wrong, yet so many people are afraid to put their money with them. Go figure. So congrats Susan. I am sending you the fur lined FBA not only for your skill on this puzzle but also cause it's smelling the house out. This boot has been in my family for generations. It was my grandma's,grandma's,mother's boot. It has kicked many a butt. I hope you enjoy it as much as my family has Susan. :)

The grocery chain is Loblaws. Presidents Choice started as a line of food products - specialty house brand products that were extra high class. The "president" in the name was the then Loblaws president (Dave Nichol, who has since been removed from the company), but they intended for the name to be used in the USA (and interpreted as some other president there :-) - I don't think that actually went very far. The first huge Presidents Choice product was the PC Decadent Chocolate Chip cookie, which used real chocolate in the chips, real butter, and was twice the percentage by weight of any name brand chocolate chip cookie on the market.

I remember seeing the cookies and their club soda on the shelves somewhere.

When I opened my account at a Zehrs I got a free bag of those truly decadent chocolate chip cookies. :)

Interesting that this puzzle was in the Featured Puzzle list today under Brain Busting. I remember solving this puzzle but didn't think it was that hard. Wonder what triggered that category?

Kathy, I don't recall Lake Erie ever being so polluted that you could walk on it. Was that late enough in winter that the shore of the lake was frozen over?
#26: BlackCat (BlackCat) on Oct 3, 2016
Not fun.
#27: Vaggelis Kamaris (evag7651) on Dec 26, 2016

A great solve!!!
#29: Andrew Schultz (blurglecruncheon) on Oct 16, 2019 [HINT]
I found it not too bad to use color logic for the top 2 rows and column 1 and edge logic for column 2--the 4 can only go so many places with the starting red 1's (c3r13 is empty since c3 is black and r13 must start red.) 14-17 and 9-11 run into trouble quickly with moderate lookahead.

\I found a lot of edge logic that didn't seem to help with the ultimate solution, but a key observation for me was c8 sort of divides the board. Somehow I figured r11c15 was blank, which placed r11c12 and opened things up.

I suspect others have more solid logic to mention, but this was mine.
