It looks like the telephone game - each person says something in the ear of the next, who tries to repeat it to the next around the circle what gets back to the original person can be very different from what was originally said.

There's a board game version, where you alternate between writing something down, and then drawing an image to match the writing. As that alternates around the circle, the meaning can diverge even more drastically. Especially if someone is a poor artist and takes liberties with the English language (who, me?).
