Puzzle Description:

Tiara Day

#1: John Macdonald (perlwolf) on May 24, 2016

In Canada, it is Victoria Day. Originally they had the birthday of the reigning monarch as a holiday, but after it changed too quickly back early in the 20'th century (after an abdication) they decided to go back to the previous century and always celebrate Victoria's birthdat. The holiday is actually the Monday before the 24'th - it was yesterday instead of today.

I never heard of this, so had to look it up. International Tiara day seems to be a different idea from the celebration of royal monarchs, though it apparently uses the same date. Tiara Day is intended to let every woman and girl practice feeling like royalty and celebrating her own life. A page explaining the origin and concept is here:

This image is a crown, including the velvet pouf, mostly (maybe only?) worn by Kings. Crowns are generally quite substantial, and seem to frequently have a red velvet pouf within the gold frame. Queens also wear crowns, but without the pouf, as well as tiaras. Tiaras generally feature more delicate metal but plenty diamonds or other sparkling gems. A page about the British royal jewels is here:

One about the tiaras of Queen Victoria of Britain is here:http://fashionablefrolick.blogspot.com/2011/04/tiaras-of-queen-victoria.html?m=1

This is a nicely done puzzle, enjoyed doing it and glad I had time to also learn something. 😊
