This is a neat helmet, so I figured I'd google and see if John-117 meant something. It does. For those curious, halo.fandom.com says the following:

"Master Chief Petty Officer John-117, more commonly known as Master Chief, is a SPARTAN-II commando of the UNSC Naval Special Warfare Command."

I'm not a Halo player, so I didn't know this, or even that he was the main protagonist of the franchise.
