Puzzle Description:

sneaky fox on the prowl

#1: Wombat (wombatilim) on Mar 25, 2023 [HINT]

Initial line & color logic completes 96% with only black remaining.

R2: EL marks C10 white.

C11: If the 3 goes into R7, C11 is invalid once the 2 in C10 is placed. R7-8 C11 are white. LL.

Deep lookahead C10: If the 2 is in R3-4, it puts the 3 in C11 into R5-6, and the only place for the 1 in R8 is in C12. This forces the 2 in R2 into C13-14, which makes R3 invalid. Therefore R3C10 is white.

R2: If the 2 goes into C11, it puts the 2 in C10 into R4-5, and there is no longer anywhere to put the first 1 in R8. Therefore, R2C11 is white.

LL to finish.

arrgh internal server error!!!!!!!

Time to reconstitute my moderate lookahëad solve

After LL gets you to 96%

EL 2 r2 = c10 white

Internal EL on the 3 in c11: if it were to go in r2-4 it would leave no room for the 1 in r8
(due to the crossing 2s in r2 and 4 taking up the clues in c10 and c12)
Therefore c11r2 must be white

LL

EL 2 c10 makes r4-5 white

LL to finish

The test posts above were because the site was throwing Internal Server Errors on the post above. Valerie says that the host has some filtering that is misidentifying some comments as hacking attempts.
The culpret in this case seems to have been the "head" part of "lookahead", combined with *something* ?!? after that. hence the umlaut over the e to make it hëad

That was fun, but a lot harder than it looked like it should be!
