It's not fun to solve puzzles like this. The amount of guessing is so vast, it takes the challenge out of it...a machine "plugging in" possible solutions would solve it.

My two cents...I've not gotten to the point of serving up any of my own...so I may not be qualified to criticize...but I am stating a fact. I do not like to start a puzzle and have the whole thing be a big guess...the colors are solvable, but that's about it.

I am sorry that you did not enjoy it.

I have created a few puzzles I try to do a variety of ways for everyone's different pleasures from really simple to a little difficult.

I do not mind critizism from anyone regardless of if you have created any or not I enjoy hearing everyones thoughts who take the time to try what I put out there. I don't really see it as critizism more as an opinion & personal preference.

Thank you for you comments good or bad.

I had to cheat to get started. But then it wasn't too bad.

Nice puzzle. EL on the 11 clue in column 20 and the 5 clue in row 30.

I know these are old comments, but I think as you do more puzzles you do learn tricks to make them more solveable. I certainly didn’t have to guess for most of it. Looking at the patterns of numbers will give you clues on where the lines go. I usually start in the border rows and columns.

Found to be solvable with moderate lookahead by kristen.

Good call, derby! This was easily solvable with some edge logic and 2-way logic.

I agree, no guessing necessary. Edge logic on the two sides and the bottom row did it for me. Jess26 has left the site, but with her puzzle still in circulation more than 12 years on, do you suppose she'd now be Jess38?

I don't see how the puzzle is logically solvable. I seem to have exhausted line logic and edge logic, and can't find any other logic that works. Below I list my steps. Note, I use white squares instead of dots.

Color logic gives all the red, blue and green squares.

Line logic then gives a single black square, along with a few white squares.

Edge Logic on the 11 in C20 gives 9 black squares to be placed in R16-24, and white squares in R1-13 & R27-30.

Edge Logic on the 5 in R30 gives white squares in C7, 20, and less obviously, C14.

Edge Logic on the 5 in C1 whites R1-5 and 23-25.

Edge Logic on R1 whites C2-3 and C17-20.

Edge Logic on C2 whites R24-25.

Internal Edge Logic on C7 whites R29.

Deep Edge Logic on R1 whites C16 due to a conflict in R4.

After that I'm stumped for a logic move. I've gone around the entire edge with edge logic, and I don't see any more line logic. I have a pretty good guess based on experience solving other puzzles where the 5 in R30 and the 11 in C20 go, but I can't prove it logically.

If anyone wants to continue where I've stopped, here is a link to my progress:

I agree that this was not a lot of fun. I managed to solve it logically with moderate-deep lookahead and using edge logic on every conceivable place (i.e. with 2-block pieces on every "side" i could find). This puzzle was difficult and a drag to solve, which is a bad combination.

I'm at the same place as Eric. : /

Cute but very very hard. I thought it was me being dumb and I appreciate what Eric had to say. Maybe put in color in the squrares between the 's and 2's in R2... even with initialy guesses there was still a lot of tricky logic.
