Want to make a quilt? Everyone who wants to participate, make a 5x5 quilt square with the word "quilt" and your ID in the title. I'll "stitch" them together and see what comes out.

We are up to 28 so far. Approximately what number are you shooting for? 30x30 would be 36 squares, 40x40 would be 64 squares, 50x50 would be 100 squares!

I think we might make it to 64. They are still coming in fast but I think they'll start to slow down soon. I'll start a count down to give everyone who wants to participate a chance to submit. Stripes won't be a problem but what color to choose. All the colors have been evenly used. Maybe white? What do you think?

If possible, I would say white, but that might make it unsolvable really fast. I think you are just going to have to play with it a bit. You may be able to arrange them to get a solution.

I just did a sampler with nine squares on a 19x19 grid with white stripe borders. It was tough but do-able. The problem with a white boarder is it's so hard to keep clean.

It's wonderful to see how many people submitted blocks and how creative people are with a 5x5 grid. Plus personalities/puzzle-makers styles showed in quite a few blocks.

Take a look at puzzle #1541 - it looks like it presaged this effort.

Joel. You are right. Minnie even mentions quilt. I'm sure there are many symmetric patterns here. I didn't do anything but suggest we each make small blocks. It was a fun project.

Brian, I should have explained more. I've been working on older puzzles that are 20 x 20 pixels or less, and I've been coming across a number of puzzles from 2007 that have similar themes to more recent puzzles, including my "Tonite's Dinner" puzzle I posted a few days ago. It just looked like #1541 fit right in with your idea, which I thought was excellent fun. Many creative ideas, and some new puzzle creators. AND, the individual blocks were small and quick to solve, which really appealed to me. Thank you for proposing the project and for assembling the results. Well done!
