Klaatu Barada Nikto

Just in case that was real language, I put it into Google Translate, with the setting to detect the language. It says it is English and means "Klaatu Barada Nikto." Good to know!

It is said by the alien (or was it the robot) from The Day the Earth Stood Still. I'd have to go back and re-watch it to find out the translation. I never did see the remake.

Found to have a unique solution by valerie.
#10: Valerie Mates (valerie) on Mar 19, 2022 [HINT]
How I solved it was:

First, line logic until that runs out.

Then upside-down smile logic on the 3 in row 12 with the space below it to rule out row 12 column 16. But then smile logic gets stuck, because row 12 column 11 is blank, so there are several places where the 3 could fit without causing a contradiction in row 13.

Next, row 8 column 16 has to be blank because if it's not, then, several steps ahead, it leaves no space for the second 1 in row 12.

I think that might be enough steps to count as deep lookahead instead of moderate, unless there is another way to solve it?

#12: Philip (Philip) on Mar 19, 2022 [HINT]
After line logic ran out I used smile/edge logic to look at the options for R12 and R13. The only valid placements of the two 1s in R13 are C12/16 or C14/16. So R13C16 is black and R13 C13,15 are dots.

LL to finish.

After LL

EL 3 r12 makes c16 white (This is the same method as smile logic)

LL

If we assume the 1,1 in r13 were in c14 & c16, it would force both the 3 in r12 and the 5 in r8 left into c11, causing a conflict.
Therefore the assumption is wrong and the left 1 in r13 must be in c12.

LL to finish
