Puzzle Description:

This is why I'm called "metalfoot"--I have a permanent metal plate in my foot where the red scar is marked.

Tell us more- are you OK now? Thanks for a really unique puzzle. ( Is that hair on the top of your foot?)
#2: Nancy Snyder (naneki) on Apr 4, 2008 [SPOILER]
the title through me for a loop, I'm thinking "Oh No..what did I ask" LOL
this is cool..making a puzzle instead of just telling us! thank you :)

and if thats not hair on top of your foot, you might want to put lotion on it, it's looking pretty dry :)
(just kidding)
thank you again

I'm so sorry Alex that your login name wasn't derived from a pain free event (like speeding).

Hope all is well now.
Thanks for the puzzle.

Oh sure. I've been living with this for about 8 years now. But it's a great source for a login/screen name which is reasonably unique.

(It was supposed to be hair. I'm not as good an artist as many of you!)

looked like hair to me :)
I'm glad it wasn't dry skin ;)
#6: Gypso (Gypso) on Apr 4, 2008 [SPOILER]
I thought it was hair too Alex. Or else you dropped spaghetti on your foot.

I gotta ask. Why the metal plate to begin with? Excuse my being nosey.

What a wonderful way to answer a question.
#8: Alex Klages (metalfoot) on Apr 5, 2008 [SPOILER]
I fell and shattered one of the long bones in my foot.
#9: Gypso (Gypso) on Apr 5, 2008 [SPOILER]
That had to hurt. I hope that you are able to walk. A damaged foot can be excruciating. Your login name suggests that humor is your outward method of coping with it. Good for you. :)

Oh sure. It's more of a mild annoyance than anything else. I'm back to a regular life, and was all healed up within a few months of the event.
#11: Arduinna (arduinna) on Apr 8, 2008 [SPOILER]
Do you ever fly? I can just imagine as they're asking you to empty your pockets and you say, "It won't help." ;) A good friend of mine has a metal hip and always has to spend extra time at the metal detector. (She had to have her hip replaced at 28!)
#12: Gypso (Gypso) on Apr 8, 2008
Lol Arduinna. I was wondering the same thing.
#13: Jen (lightvader) on Apr 9, 2008 [SPOILER]
I always wondered that too. My Uncle was in a bad accident when he was in college and has a metal bar in his leg and had his jaw wired back together. then there was another accident that caused him to have a metal bar in his arm and wrist. I'd very much like to know how he gets through the metal detector when he flies.

It depends, I guess, on the metal involved? I've never had any problems in airports.

I hope nobody will ask Jose how he got his nickname!
(He published 2 puzzles #6116 and #6117 under the name "boardhead11')
